Taco Bell

Just a few words about Taco Bell.  You can eat here, just
be aware of cross contamination.

Now, reading over the menu, they use Modified corn starch not
modified food starch.

I don't eat there myself because I am just too sensitive to the
cross contamination there.  I'm not saying don't, just be cautious.

I put this list alphabetical instead of dinner wise because this is how
it is on their website.

  1. Thanks for the post. So if I'm not sensitive to cross contamination, I can have, say, a Doritos Locos Taco, but can I have the taco meat that comes on it? At a glance, it doesn't look like the shell or the meat is glutenous, but on Taco Bell's website, it says it is NOT gluten free. I can't find the wheat in the ingredient list. Any ideas?

  2. The meat contains (from their website) Oats (contains wheat) and Yeast Extract (contains gluten) I"ll add the link to their nutritional page also.

    1. Thanks, seems like a grey area. I'm celiac, and my nutritionist is from Mayo Clinic. Oats aren't gluten, but often cross contaminated with wheat in nature that it is not recommended. Also, yeast extract is derived from barley, but almost always contains less than 1 part per million, thus, gluten free. I'm still not sure if this taco would be gluten free, but I'm glad Taco Bell errs on the side of safe and does not label their product as gluten free. This is a great post! Thanks!

  3. They have a spicy taco on the menu. But now they are not showing gluten free on the new site. I ate them yesterday and did not have any issue. Thoughts???

  4. They are not gluten free, but it is fairly far down the list of ingredients. I think you are talking about the Fiery Doritos Locos Tacos? The gluten is in the seasoning, so it may be a very small amount. Personally, I wouldn't recommend eating it depending on how small of an amount will affect you.

  5. Yea Taco isn't gluten free, just know about it from reading your post and this post https://ischeeseglutenfree.com/is-taco-bell-nacho-cheese-gluten-free/. Wouldn't recommend too.
